From the Office — Upcoming Events

We are busy in the school office planning many events during the Fall semester. Here are a few examples of what’s being planned. Be sure to mark your calendars and join us at these exciting events!

In September we hosted PDN’s 30 Under 30 and heard from exciting professionals. Many of our faculty members also participated in a faculty training hosted by Canon, they were able to work with a lot of new technology including new Canon cameras!

October also holds a lot for SPAS. October 10th Robert Latorre, an RIT alumnus, will be presenting and also giving a demo of The Big Freeze Worldwide. Robert has participated in exciting films such as The Matrix and most recently R.I.P.D. Brick City is also happening again this year, beginning on October 10th. SPAS Faculty are participating in Photo Plus Expo, which is held October 24th-26th in New York City. Our faculty discuss new technology and attend seminars and SPAS, along with CIAS Alumni Relations, hosts an alumni event. On October 31st the first Charles Arnold Lecture will be featuring Christian Patterson.

While November is a little bit slower for events, there may be some that turn up at the last minute. On November 7th, a Canon Photographer of Light, Tyler Stableford, will be giving a guest lecture and doing a portfolio review for SPAS students. November 8th is A Day in Photography, where we will be working to showcase all of the work done by the photography community at RIT to prospective students and local guidance counselors. Mac on Campus will be here on November 13th, more information will become available about their visit once it gets closer. And don’t forget, no classes will be held November 27th-29th, in observance of Thanksgiving.

December is a short month for SPAS, since Reading Day is December 12th, exams begin December 13th, and Winter Break starts on December 20th. However, we are still planning on the annual Holiday Auction on December 11th!
